Monday Series: A Story About Perspective
I don't have much to say today and I feel like I need to take a break from the productivity reporting to pay my respects to what is going on in the world right now. I'm trying to listen and learn. Day to day problems feel pretty small these days with all of the injustice, death, and disease in the news. America needs a dose of self-reflection. We have to do better.
I'm not going to pretend to have any advice or answers; it's my job to listen and support.
Things I will do:
- I'm going to keep donating, writing to authorities, signing petitions, and learning about how I can be a productive ally for racial justice.
- I'm going to keep speaking truth to power, accepting criticism when I say the wrong thing, and improving my communication style.
- And I'm going to keep moving forward. We're learning on a macro level that fear-induced inaction is no longer acceptable, in politics or in life. It's time to be brave and put some shit in motion. Now is the time.
These things are applicable to so many areas of life outside of the racial justice conversation... why do we suck at them?
